The autumn-winter season began with heavy rain in November and moderate snowfall in December; the weather was dry from January until early February, when some snowfall was experienced. These conditions allowed for the accumulation of an excellent water reserve that proved to be invaluable for the summer season. February and March were characterized by a mild and dry weather; April and May experienced abundant rain that rebalanced the vegetation of the vines, resulting in different germination between the upper and lower parts of the hills. May and June were characterized by a hot and dry weather that registered averagely higher temperatures for a short period. The unusual and abundant rain in the beginning of July allowed for a gradual ripening from the 21st to the 23rd of September, in line with a very classic vintage that yielded lesser grapes characterized by excellent quality. La Court 2019 shows a rich ruby red color. The intense, distinct and elegant bouquet reveals the particular characteristics of this great vintage. Hints of red fruits (cherry, wild berries) are followed by coffee and an elegant balsamic note. The mouth has a broad and remarkable structure: surprisingly pleasant and round, it also reveals a certain freshness and a distinct persistence. “La Court” is a stunner of a Barbera! The nose is full of dark black fruits, sweet baking spices, mint and dried herbs. The wine's structure is beautiful with fine tannins and vibrant acidity around a core of dark cherries and blackberries. This is a Barbera for your cellar (2025–2032)

Instead, the Michele Chiarlo 2019 Nizza Riserva La Court boasts a composed personality with plum, dark fruit, earth and wild rose. This pretty wine is streamlined and tapered with a silky finish that imparts long-lasting flavors and freshness. Volume and ripeness are replaced here by length and consistency.
